We enjoyed our nice quiet weekend at the cottage. The only weekend of the winter we could make it up north. The kids had a great time and mom and dad did get to unwind. The kids played a lot outside. They fished and tried out something new, cross country skiing. Thank you dad and Marlene for letting us use your skis. We also accomplished our community service project. We made 20 pillowcases for the UW hospital.
Winter volleyball
Abby has decided to join a rec volleyball league the last two winters. She has improved so much over the past year. It’s gone from painful to enjoyable watching her. She is really enjoying her teammates this year and her cousin has joined.
Fishing with Dad & Grandpa
This past week half of our family took a fishing trip up north, WAY up north. They left early Friday morning and returned Monday afternoon, exhausted. It was the best year for fishing so far. There was 14 all together sleeping in 4 different shacks. They slept right out on the ice. They had a great time. I and the little ones stayed home and slept in our warm bed.
The great white hunter
The time has come for bow hunting. Montana has the dedication to sit in the woods for hours silently, not moving just to see a deer.

Pioneer tour

A tour through the Pioneer plant in Durand Iowa. Pictures were not allowed through the plant, but the tour was very interesting. Thank you Loran for the invite
Honor Flight
We had a wonderful experience a couple weeks ago. My grandpa was invited to go on the honor flight to Washington D.C. It all happens in one day. He left early Saturday morning and returned Saturday night. Our family along with many other families welcomed the veterans home with a huge homecoming as they arrived at the airport. It was awesome. The last time my grandpa rode in an airplane was on the way home from the war. He had a great time and was one of the younger ones on the plane. He is 88 years old.
Happy Birthday Nick
Spring Clean Up
Every year the kids clean up our ditch from all of the garbage from the past winter. This year Gabe was sick so the two older ones ventured off and took care of the ditch. When Gabe felt better we did a little clean up of our own, which included a stop at the Maas farm to check out the cows.
